The danger of having a single story can make one to
think that there is no other possibility of a certain issue. Chimamanda Adichie
in her speech talks about it saying that
a single story creates a stereotype and that it emphasizes how we are
different and not how we are similar.
The problem is that as one has only one story from only one perspective, one
could think that that is the only option. A person can easily be immersed in
one idea and what is really important is the fact that going beyond a single
story, a human can break any stereotype. To sum up, having only one story of a matter can easily take us to a world where no more than one possibility is likely to be true.

Realist fiction is not only the recording of real life
but also takes into account different aspects as humanity and dignity.
Chimamanda Adichie claims that this kind of fiction is above all of turning
facts into truth and also that it is emotion which leads one to enjoy realistic
literature. Altough knowing facts is important, it is not the only thing that
really matters. We are all emotional human beings and when we read we do so in
order to learn about others, to see what other people like or dislike, to know what
their desires are, to learn and search for humanity. Books are really powerful
and can enlarge our imagination since it depends on us to go beyond the words,
to go beyond real life. To some extent, by reading realist fiction we can learn
about the humanity itself.
